Photobook Levelandscape
Munich with it´s River Isar, the English Garden, as well as several parks around the city makes nature and water define the city itself. However, we can´t forget the necessity of infrastructures, which create as well specific environments. Through this photographic book I portray this moments, where this levels create the essence of this spectacular city.
Munich as most of the cities worldwide has his first settlement next to the river, where Benedictine monks had their place. A bridge through the Isar was the central point of this medieval small town. Due to this origin, the actual city got formed around this river, that made the establishment of human life possible. Eleven bridges unify the two parts of the city. That is why the river is not seen in this city as a division, much more as an natural stream, which provides the people an escape from the dense city live.
The English Garden is one of the largest urban parks in the world. In 1789 the public park was established along the Isar River. With his huge dimensions it creates a perfect addition to the river with his large green plan spaces.
